so much closer playlist

You guys. So Much Closer comes out on May 3. There’s less than a month to go! And have you been waiting for Something Like Fate to come out in paperback? If so, you are in luck. The paperback edition comes out on April 19! I’ll be doing my annual contests for each book release where you can win copies. The Something Like Fate paperback contest will be posted on Monday and my ginormous So Much Closer contest will be posted near the end of the month. As always, I’m really looking forward to basking in your creative brilliance.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to post the So Much Closer playlist. This will give you a feeling for the tone of the book. But I don’t want to give anything away. These are just the songs for now. I’ll explain why each song was selected (like I always do for my playlists) after the book comes out. Enjoy!

1. "Empire State of Mind Part II" – Alicia Keys

2. "Second Chance" – Shinedown

3. "Better Than Me" – Hinder

4. "Break Me Out" – The Rescues

5. "Strange Currencies" – R.E.M.

6. "Train in the Distance" – Paul Simon

7. "The City Lights" – Umbrellas

8. "Don’t Stop Believin’" – Journey

9. "Skyway Bridge" – Melissa McClelland

10. "Hey There Delilah" – Plain White T’s

11. "Baker Street" – Gerry Rafferty

12. "Angeles" – Elliott Smith

I cannot wait till this book comes out. I like the playlist by the way. πŸ™‚ When I saw that Don’t stop Believing was on there I instantly thought of the middle school I used to go to. It was like the theme song for it. Everybody knew it and everybody listened to it. And it immediately brought me back to our eigth grade class trip in NYC. We saw times square, the wax museum, and road on the boat around noon-to night around the statue of liberty. it was a time to remember. πŸ˜€

Aw, it’s bringing you back! “Don’t Stop Believin'” was like my anthem in high school. I was stoked when Glee picked it up so a whole new group of friendly neighbors could be inspired πŸ™‚

So I know this is like my millionth comment tonight, but I got bogged down with end of the semester craziness and hadn’t had a chance to read the blog in awhile. So totally love the playlist. Definitely going to listen to it while I read and then go back and reread your other books and listen to them while I read, cause duh you’re books are awesome and your playlists with them even more. Don’t Stop Believin totally the theme song with regards to writing my first young adult novel. Keeping the faith the writer’s block will subside soon. I know where they’re all going just
gotta figure out how they are getting there =)
Ps. Your birthday was my first day at work at the bookstore. It’s something like fate ;)Oh and the fact that three of my favorite authors (Megan McCafferty, you of course, and Sarah Dessen) all have books being released a week apart of each other is too awesome for words. The only thing is I really need to put off reading the books cause I have like a million hour flight to Italy scheduled for the end of the month. *Must resist temptation and keep them for the plane.* So far so good with Megan’s. I’ve waited a whole week now! Oh guess what I just realized I now need to download all these playlist songs for your new book onto my kindle so I can read and listen at the same time.
Ok this Ps. totally turned into a blog, which btw I think you should totally keep possibly on xanga.com if livejournal is messing up because that’s where I keep mine and only select people know about it and so I also have facebook. And I have twitter but rarely use it and livejournal but forgot my password. Alrighty I have to be up in like 6 hours I really need to get some sleep hhaha. Night and enjoy your release day!!

Ooh, listening to the playlist as you read the book. Love!
I’m the same with saving books for the plane. My publisher gave me an ARC of Sarah Dessen’s new book months ago, but I’m saving it for my plane ride to Cali next week. The whole airport/plane/mind-numbing hours of travel thing requires reading you can count on.
My blog will be moving to WordPress this summer. That way I can eventually make it part of my website if I want to. Always thinking two steps ahead…

  2. WOOOORD!!!!!!! I ADORE that playlist. And Hey There Delilah!! Eeeeeeeek! You made my day extra happy! πŸ™‚
P.S. I hope us Canadians could join those contests.. πŸ˜€

  3. I will definitely check these songs out. Your book playlists are always so awesome. I still listen to Transatlanticism all the time and can’t get over how moving it is. Even the same notes they play over and over are amazing.
